COC/COI: Students will be interviewed next week. The delay happened mainly because the committees were still being assembled (on the faculty side)
Final Grade Deadline Enforcement: This is usually a problem in big lecture classes – this can solved with a new grade, AR (Administrative Referral), that will show up after the deadline for those students whose grades couldn’t be given for a number of reasons, such as missing the final. This solution will allow other students to receive grades faster, and Barry Kane (the Registrar) is implementing it. Dean Yatrakis is collecting data on late submissions to see if this is a problem in smaller classes; either way, we need that data to get faculty on board with this issue.
Syllabus/Course Info Online: This is in CUIT’s hands right now, and they want to make it available before registration in November.
Course Evaluations: A few departments, such as Econ and Poli Sci, already authorized quantitative evaluations to be published online. However, CUIT didn’t put them up, and organized it by faculty instead of department… They’ve already been notified of their mistakes, and they should be up for certain departments by the end of the term.
Course Registration: Dean Yatrakis and I discussed the creation of an online waitlist for courses with high demand. We could have a pilot experiment starting next semester already, but for that to happen I need to compile a list of high-demand courses that are going to be taught next semester. Do you think we could send this form to the CCSC board? http://bit.ly/pc5Eei
Overall, Dean Yatrakis seemed eager to take care of these issues as soon as possible, since they’ve been on the table for a while now.
