[ALMA MATTERS ♔] 11.26.11

It’s the most wonderful time of the year…

For one of the truly most magical moments on campus, we are proud to invite you all to attend the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony this Thursday, December 1st! Every year, students come together to light the trees on College Walk, enjoy wonderful performances by their peers and hear words of wisdom and encouragement from their faculty and administrators. This year, for the first time, ALL FOUR SCHOOLS will be working together to plan the event. Our hope is that this collaboration can bring together the larger university to celebrate our campus and our community! We are also thrilled to announce that our very own Deantini will be among the guest speakers, along with deans from the the other three undergraduate schools.

The Tree Lighting will be from 6-7PM on College Walk and followed by the Yule Log ceremony from 7-8pm in John Jay. And just in case the warm happy sensations aren’t enough to protect you against the bitter cold, we’ll also have snacks and hot drinks!

As always, check out the links below for some great events this week, as well as our website and Facebook pages to see what the council has been up to.

De-light-fully yours,

Aki Terasaki
Student Body President

After 30 years and over 30 million deaths, the AIDS pandemic remains a dangerous force throughout the world. This year is a crucial year in the fight against AIDS: it marks both the 30th year since the first reported case of AIDS in the United States and is also the potential turning point in the pandemic. For the first time since the pandemic began, research has shown that the AIDS pandemic can be ended, and it can be ended within the next 30 years.
Join the Columbia Student Global AIDS Campaign in commemorating the past 30 Years and rallying to secure an AIDS-FREE GENERATION in another 30 Years.
