Junior year can be a stressful time as we learn about our strengths and weaknesses and try to determine what our futures will be like. For many of us, we will go on to careers in NYC and across the world; others will continue on in their education. However, there’s one thing we all have in common: we’ll never have as much fun as we will right here as the Class of ’13 in Columbia College. President Ryan Mandelbaum, Vice President Eleanor Stein, and representatives Max Bartick, Elizabeth Angeles and Alex Jasiulek, as well as our hard-working appointed council members are all working diligently to make junior year not only a productive one, but an incredible one. You can contact us at cc2013-council@columbia.edu with any thoughts ideas, or comments, and be sure to say hi to us when you see us because we all love the Class of ’13!

Hey folks. My name is John, many call me Lubeen. I’m a Queens native, psych major and lover of (bad) action movies (Jason Statham movies>>>). I’m also a proud board member of CUSH, the Columbia University Society of Hip-Hop (if you’re unfamiliar with us, I invite/advise you to come check us out in the IRC every Thursday from 7-9). Aside from providing the student body with the most entertaining performances

I am from beautiful Bradenton Florida but I was born in San Francisco. I am currently at a tennis tournament at Cornell though it feels as though we are in the North Pole. So obviously, I am on the tennis team and I spend a lot of time running from Dodge to Baker and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I like to attend Columbia basketball games and be
Ryan Cho hails from sunny Los Angeles (where it’s not as cold as it is here now). Interestingly enough, he didn’t even know that Junior of the Week existed…. until now. He likes to stay active… by doing a ton of clubs and activities, but somehow finds most of his time on Netflix and Hulu catching up on television. Of course, he doesn’t do this while doing rounds around Hogan,
Food scraps in the freezer, are you kidding me? Sounds crazy, but last fall Adam got people from over 60 suites to drop off bins of frozen waste in a composting pilot at Columbia. Now he’s working with a dedicated team of EcoReps on a project that will bring the Rocket A500 composter to campus this spring. The machine will process 80 gallons per week and open up for student use in
It’s about that time of year where we all get really stressed worrying about our final exams; to alleviate some of this stress, the Class of ’13 Council handed Crumbs Cupcakes out to 250 people in Lerner yesterday. We had a really great time and hope you did too! Special thanks to Michelle Vallejo and Alex Jasiulek, and the rest of the CC ’13 Council for putting in the hard
Jake Lefker, like James Bennet II, is a junior at CU. But that’s obvious. What’s not so obvious is that Jake is a dancing fiend. A member of Sabor, Columbia’s Latino Dance Troupe, he loves to dance salsa, bachata, merengue, hip-hop and modern. You may have even seen him in Orchesis performances over the last two years as well. The Academic co-Chair of the Hispanic Scholarship Fund, he has organized
James Bennett II, junior at CU, saxophonist (sax-off-onist) in Ace o’ Cake, wants to make people move. James Bennett, soul brotha, with a voice that has been called sultry, programmer at wkcr… jazz dept thanks very much. James Bennett, liberal arts student, loves all things lovely, likes writing haikus for especially lovely people (and things). If he really likes you, he just may write you one.
